Would you like to join our 140-strong choir? Would you like to sing, (sometimes in Latin), glorious music like Messiah or Verdi’s Requiem? Well come along at the beginning of either the Autumn term in September or at the beginning of the Spring term in January. We are looking especially for sopranos, tenors and basses. We extend a particular welcome to students, and they are exempt from the subscription.

Our rehearsals are on Mondays (sometimes fortnightly and sometimes weekly). Check Member Info for the actual dates. They are held at 7.30 pm at Beverley Grammar School, Queensgate, Beverley, HU17 8NF. Click here for a map. Come to the first rehearsal of the term. If you enjoy it, you can have an audition the following week. Bring along two copies of your own choice of music. One is for you to sing from and the other is for the pianist to accompany you. The audition is simply to check that you can sing in tune and have a voice that will blend well with the rest of the choir. You will also be required to read music and do some simple sight-singing. We look forward to seeing you.

Copies of vocal scores are usually available for hire, however in odd-numbered years, when Messiah, and later, carols are performed, members provide their own copies.

Handel Messiah, edited by Ebenezer Prout, Novello Publishing Ltd, ISBN 0-85360-216-6

Carols for Choirs 1 (Fifty Christmas Carols) edited and arranged by Reginald Jacques and David Willcocks, Oxford University Press, ISBN 0-19-353222-0  (Copies of teach-yourself CDs and tapes can be obtained from Music Dynamics.)
